Admissions FAQ

Answers to the questions applicants ask most. For full detail, see the relevant programme or admissions page.

What programmes does Test University offer?

TU offers five postgraduate master's programmes: the MSc in Management (MiM), the MSc in Business Artificial Intelligence (MBAI), the MBA, the Master of IT in Business (MITB), and the Master of Data Science in Economics (MDSE).

What is the minimum CGPA for entry?

Minimums are stated on a 4.0 scale: MiM 3.0, MBAI 3.2, MBA 3.0, MITB 3.0, and MDSE 3.3. See the grade equivalency guide on the admissions page to map other systems to the 4.0 scale.

What English proficiency do I need?

IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL iBT 90 for all programmes except the MBA, which requires IELTS 7.0 / TOEFL iBT 100. You are exempt if your bachelor's was taught and assessed entirely in English, or if you are a citizen of Australia, Canada (outside Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, or the United States.

Do I need a GMAT or GRE?

Only the MBA requires the GMAT (650+) or GRE (320+). A waiver is available for 8+ years of senior experience or a prior advanced degree. The other four programmes do not require GMAT/GRE.

How much does it cost to apply, and what is the deposit?

The application fee is SGD 100 (non-refundable). On accepting an offer you pay a SGD 5,000 enrolment deposit, which is credited to your tuition.

When are the intakes and deadlines?

There are two intakes a year: January 2027 and August 2027. For January 2027, rounds close 31 Jul 2026 (R1), 30 Sep 2026 (R2), and 15 Nov 2026 (final). For August 2027, rounds close 31 Jan 2027 (R1), 31 Mar 2027 (R2), and 15 May 2027 (final).

How long until I get a decision?

Applications are assessed on a rolling basis within each round. Offer decisions, including any scholarship outcome, are typically made within four to six weeks.

What scholarships are available?

The Test Merit Award is automatic on admission and CGPA-based (up to 25% of tuition). Other awards include the ASEAN Leaders Grant, Greater China Scholars Award, India Excellence Award, women-in-field scholarships, a Research Excellence Award, the Early Commitment Rebate, and need-based aid. See the scholarships page for eligibility and values.

Can I work while studying, and do I need a visa?

International students require a Student's Pass to study in Singapore. TU registers you in the ICA SOLAR+ system after you accept your offer; typical processing is around four weeks to In-Principle Approval. See the international page for full details.

Which applicants are not eligible?

Common disqualifiers include a CGPA below the programme minimum, a degree from an unaccredited institution, English below the requirement without an exemption, missing GMAT/GRE for the MBA without a waiver, the MDSE without prerequisite mathematics, and holding a passport from a restricted jurisdiction.

I have several years of experience — MiM or MBA?

The MiM is designed for early-career graduates (0–2 years); candidates with more than about three years are usually better matched to the MBA, which requires a minimum of two years of experience.

I don't have a quantitative background — can I still do the MBAI?

Yes. The MBAI offers a bridge module for admitted students from non-quantitative backgrounds. Foundational Python and statistics are recommended but not required. The MDSE, by contrast, has a hard prerequisite-maths requirement.
